Weapons of Reason releases issue four, Power, alongside interactive “global power map”

Weapons of Reason magazine has released its fourth issue, focused on the theme of Power. The print edition features editorial and illustration exploring the world’s current hierarchical structures, “how [they] materialised, their current shape, and how they might evolve, or collapse”.

Meanwhile the online edition features an interactive data visualisation of a “global power map”, laying bare the close links between the world’s most powerful corporations, financial institutions, multi-laterals, governments and media groups.

Developed together with digital consultancy Univers Labs, the map isn’t created “to uncover any scandalous revelations” the magazine explains, “but rather to make use of publicly available information to highlight the fact that a small group of interlinked organisations exert a disproportionate grasp over global power”.

The Power issue features illustrations by Koivo, James Graham, Timo Meyer, Mitch Blunt and Jérôme Masi, with a cover illustration by Laura Rolwing. Articles including A Great Dictator by Mat Youkee and Rise of the Right by Kieran Yates analyse current and historical power struggles, written in a style suited to Weapons of Reason’s ethos to communicate complex problems understandable.

Weapons of Reason: Power is out now, published by Human After All.
