i-D has won women’s magazine cover of the year at the Swipecast awards. Its Pre-Fall 2016 issue cover featuring Adwoa Aboah photographed by Harley Weir “was a celebration of female empowerment and the beauty of the female gaze,” says the publication. The magazine was chosen from a batch of nominees including Dazed’s Winter 2016 cover of Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown, and Document Journal’s FW16 issue starring Tilda Swinton photographed by Colin Dodgson.

The men’s magazine cover of the year went to Fucking Young! for its FW16 issue, featuring model Jordan Barnett photographed by Mariano Vivanco. Other nominees for the award include Another Man’s infamous Harry Styles cover by Alasdair Mclellan, as well as Fantastic Man’s FW16 issue of Vetements designer Demna Gvasalia, photographed by Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matador.

Harper’s Bazaar won best women’s fashion editorial for it’s Think Pink feature, and photographer Benjamin Vnuk’s shoot for The Greatest Magazine won the men’s category.

Swipecast is an app directory where the fashion creative industry can collaborate, discover and book models, photographers, stylists, hair and make-up artists. Judges for this years awards include Mark Fina of Spring Studios Agency, Melisa Goldie, the former CMO of Calvin Klein, and Cédric Murac, vice president and global creative director of Estee Lauder.
