Burberry and the Henry Moore Foundation has announced it will collaborate on a major exhibition in London, showing over 40 sculpture works alongside Burberry’s February 2017 collection. According to Christopher Bailey, chief creative at Burberry, the iconic sculptor’s work has inspired the fashion brand’s latest pieces.

The exhibition will explore Henry Moore’s creative process, with his working models, drawings and maquettes forming part of the display. It will also feature well-known works such as Draped Reclining Mother and Baby (1983) and Mother and Child: Block Seat (1983-84), and include a programme of workshops, events and acoustic performances.

“I have been fascinated by the great British sculptor Henry Moore for as long as I can remember,” says Christopher Bailey. “His work has always had a powerful influence on me. Looking at, and thinking about, his work set up a series of conversations as we began working on our latest collection. The result is an incredibly enriching collaboration with his Foundation which has extended well beyond our show, and into an extraordinary exhibition of his work and process at Makers House.”

Director of the Henry Moore Foundation, Godfrey Worsdale, says: “I feel sure that Henry Moore would have been fascinated to see his work inspiring such outstanding designs, and we hope this collection will encourage new audiences to discover and appreciate his remarkable work and the studios he created them in.”

Burberry has also released images of two looks from the upcoming collection in a campaign shot on location at Henry Moore Studios and Gardens in Hertfordshire.

The free exhibition will open from 21–27 February at Burberry’s exhibition space Makers House at 1 Manette Street, Soho, London, W1D 4AT.
