In an unusual commissioned art series from airline Delta and Coca-Cola, a collection of illustrators and artists including Noma Bar, Stevie Gee and Ping Zhu have designed tray tables for one of airline’s Boeing 767 planes.

Developed by creative agency Wieden+Kennedy New York in collaboration with the two companies, the Tray Art project’s list of artists is notably international, with contributors from Amsterdam, Mexico City, Paris, Sao Paulo, Seoul and Tokyo.

These include Sac Magique, Adam Pinsley, Skip Hursch, Pedro Campiche, James R. Eads, Alex Yanes, Will Bryant, Yulia Brodskaya and Paola Gracey.

Noma Bar’s artwork is inspired by the weather and how it affects the mood of the city. Stevie Gee’s draws from the recognisable imagery of his home town’s Hollywood Boulevard. Ping Zhu shows Shanghai “through the prism of the street market, the place where food, commerce and culture bubble over and tell the story of China’s past and present”.

As well as their installation on the aircraft, the series of artworks will also be exhibited at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
