Last Friday it was reported that shape-shifting artist Cindy Sherman had quietly joined the Instagram community. Now Apple has caved in to join Instagram’s ever growing swarm of 700 million monthly users.

At the time of writing, the @Apple Instagram account already had a staggering 308K users and a covetable blue tick verifying the account, despite only having posted nine pieces of content – all of which were captured by iPhone users as part of Apple’s Shot on iPhone campaign – beginning yesterday. As such, the move to Instagram recognises the iPhone’s capabilities as a camera in its own right.

Apple’s first Instagram post reads “a look through the lens of iPhone users around the world.” If you’re keen to get your pictures shared to Apple’s swiftly swelling following it also prompts you to tag them with the #ShotOnIphone hashtag.
