A Load of Jargon: an It's Nice That exhibition celebrating industry buzzwords

The Conran Shop is the home of considered, curated design, founded by Sir Terence Conran in 1973.

It’s Nice That will be taking over the windows of The Conran Shop during London Design Festival with A Load of Jargon – an installation that celebrates industry buzzwords. We are all guilty of using redundant and superfluous language throughout our working day, phrases such as “blue sky thinking”, “target audience” or “thought shower” are just a few examples of this strange terminology that has become commonplace.

A series of five original artworks designed by creative duo Isabel + Helen will create a playful and immersive experience in store. A programme of activities will take place each Saturday throughout September and October, thanks to the kind support of G . F Smith, which will allow attendees to take away a uniquely designed print. Hato Press will be running a Risograph printing workshop and South East Print Studio will be hosting free screenprinting demos.

“From game changers to influencers – jargon, a lazy man’s lingo, is ever-present in design communication and beyond,” says Jamie McIntyre, senior art director at It’s Nice That. “We wanted to create an installation where people could acknowledge and celebrate these strange quirks – no matter what their background."

A Load of Jargon opens this Saturday 17 September 2016 at The Conran Shop, Chelsea.
