What's On: Alicja Kwade - In Circles

Date
23 February 2012

Now open at Berlin’s Johann Köenig gallery is a sculptural installation of cosmic proportions. In Circles is Alicja Kwade’s latest collection of everyday objects to which some universal force has acted on, so that each thing – be it a pane of glass, a length of steel, a gate, a bike or a two euro piece – has bent itself in the exact same way and is orbitting centrifugally about a single point. Practically, it asks a fascinating set of questions about all the processes required by the artist to conform each (materially very different) item to the same ends which when together, recalls a micro solar system. Showing until March 14.
