Studio Feixen creates an interactive, digital poster of musical surprise

Swiss graphic design studio Studio Feixen has collaborated with Marc Schwegler on a new event, Oto Nové Swiss. The result is an interactive, digital poster with hidden musical surprises.

Studio Feixen previously collaborated with Marc for a poster series, Südpol in 2015. “When I met him recently in a bar we decided it would be nice to work on something together again,” says Felix of Studio Feixen. “And as always he gave us complete freedom.”

“For us it was clear that we wanted to design something that stretches the borders of what you usually see these days,” Felix tells It’s Nice That. “We think there’s a lot to do in the area of interaction, animation and graphic design. And especially when it comes to moving typography.” The result encompasses each of these disciplines but with a nuanced balance so that the separate elements do not overpower each other. The typography within the poster is divided by circular shapes, when you hover your mouse over the letterforms they shift into their own linear shapes.

Each of these typographic movements are accompanied by sound, creating “an interactive poster which you can explore, play around with and maybe even compose your own music”. The musical element of the digital poster was realised while the studio was programming the final design. “We realised that it would be awesome to have sounds which support the movement. And on the other hand give you a feeling of the festivals visual content.” The sounds are created by composer Jannik Giger, a further example of Studio Feixen’s ability to collaborate effectively. “We did our job but at the same time we were able to show how we understand typography and graphic design these days. Everything is in motion. Every shape has its rules and can react to whatever happens on the surface.”
