Beautiful illustration by Rachel Gannon shows furniture design in a new light

Bringing a new perspective to industrial design and illustration, a show at The Aram Gallery sees RCA graduate Rachel Gannon illustrate a series of furniture designs, with each discipline feeding into the other as Rachel’s work is exhibited alongside products by industrial designers André Klauser and Ed Carpenter, who work together under the moniker Very Good & Proper.

Rachel took inspiration from “the intended use and aesthetics of these objects” to create the drawings, and the pairing works wonderfully. The sketchy line-work of Rachel’s style brings a tactile edge to the exhibition, while her re-appropriation of the products on show encourages visitors to consider them in a new light, one in which they’re used, piled on top of one another and sat on, rather than sitting pretty in a clinical showroom.

Prototype to Production with Commentary will run at The Aram Gallery in London until 4 January 2015.
