Artist Peter Tillessen’s new book of drawings observe everyday life and its nuances

German artist Peter Tillessen has published Cial Drawings a 238-page book containing a selection of his drawings from the past three years. Published by Spector Books in Leipzig, the publication provides “a deep insight into a cosmos of ideas, which disjointedly link the political with the absurd, and the philosophical with the abstract”.

Each line drawing has been inspired by observing everyday life, “from unusual cancerous growths to observations of animals and signatures of multinational corporations”. Quickly composed using pencil on office paper, the drawings appear as short, sharp insights from Peter in doodle form. The limited edition of 100 copies has been produced by Peter himself and keep to a sparse layout that showcases the drawings uninterrupted by text. Here his A4 drawings are placed side-by-side or in sequence, creating a dialogue between the images and offering more interpretations on the things Peter has commented on.
