Vice, Avaunt, Jack Hudson and Gemma Germains at Nicer Tuesdays November – get tickets now

Date
15 November 2016

At Nicer Tuesdays November we’ll be hearing from Vice’s newest editor, Avaunt’s director of photography, an illustrator who took on the world, and a writer who has a bone to pick with the industry. Get tickets here.

Jack Hudson took on the mammoth task of art directing and illustrating The Earth and I, a book by 97-year-old scientific visionary James Lovelock, cover to cover. He’ll be telling us the fascinating story behind the project, which saw him illustrate “pretty much everything that exists on the entire planet – no biggie!”

Gemma Germains recently caused quite a stir with her article on It’s Nice That, titled Work hard, be nice to people and have rich parents, addressing privilege in the creative industry. She’ll be talking candidly about her experience of the industry’s bias, and what we can do about it.

Avaunt magazine just released issue four, with two starkly different covers and a vast array of photographic styles and subject matter inside. Madeleine Penny, the magazine’s director of photography, will be talking us through the work, and her commissioning and curating process.
