Nejc Prah encourages you to play in his design for an electrifying website

In his work for product designer Dan Adlešič’s portfolio site, Nejc Prah took inspiration from Dan’s work, and specifically the project Electricity is like WOAH! Dan had been making lights, multi-plugs and “extra hands” with “buttons, switches and lots of sensors. There’s a lot of refurbished or recycled mechanical or electric parts from old toys and machines,” Nejc says. The website functions like an extension of the work, with lots of hidden buttons, animations and colour-coding, all put together with a very fitting clunkiness: “Some of the switches are useful, others not really, and you have to play around with it to find all the stuff; hidden menu, work in progress photos, audience, written stories, the cube with samples of materials he made etc.”

Nejc designed the typeface for the body text as well as drawing custom type for the site header, which goes from minimal and readable through to bright, intense and busy as you progress through the work. It’s a great way to visualise a project, reflecting its content and context, showing both the photographs of Dan’s work – taken by Klemen Ilovar – and illustrating the thinking through the aesthetic and functionality of the site.
