German visual communicator Max Guther builds hyperreal, digital illustrations that recall a pang of nostalgia for those that played The Sims for hours on end.
Currently a communication design student at Mainz University of Applied Sciences, Max also completed a term as a guest of Eike König’s class at HFG Offenbach in 2014. This lead to a six month internship at Hort.
Max formulates sharp interiors with results that are unapologetically digital and futuristic. However, his appropriation of familiar textures are reminiscent of suburban homes – often using familiar tropes such as wooden flooring and boldly painted kitchen cupboards. Max builds each of his digital collages using photoshop and illustrator, arranging different elements to convey everyday situations and activities.
