Kelsey Wroten’s tangible illustrations bursting with energy

Kelsey Wroten has a remarkable ability with coloured pencils. Each of the Brooklyn-based illustrators drawings are so textured that when viewed on a computer screen they still appear tangible.

This skill has caught the eye of numerous publications including The New York Times, The New Yorker, NPR, Vice and Lenny Letter. Kelsey’s ability to convey a narrative through layered sketches is an ideal style for editorial illustration. Personality is represented through her illustrated expressions and colour palettes that represent blushed cheeks or shadows.

This is a stylistic approach that Kelsey also applies to her interiors and landscape surroundings. For instance, the sky in certain images is full of energy communicating a mood and even the sketching on a jacket represents character.

2017 is an exciting year for Kelsey who will publish a graphic novel with Uncivilized Books later this year.
