Jonathan Djob Nkondo plays with perspective in his series of revolving animations

French animator Jonathan Djob Nkondo has created this ambiguous series of short animations titled Dark Day for Super Deluxe, an online channel that hosts original shorts. At under a minute long each of the six parts sees a frustrated character battling his way through a limbo-like world.

Jonathan seamlessly shifts the perspective throughout his films by continually flipping the camera angle so walls become floors and floors morph into the tops of buildings. This perpetual transitioning makes the films fast-paced and engaging, forcing you to pay attention as you try to make sense of the turning visuals and disconnected array of objects that appear. Tightly framed and presented in squares, the action is compact and the abstract narrative plays out over six sequences culminating in a dramatic end of the protagonist.
