Hear Malika Favre, Nobrow and the Galvin Brothers chat Form and Function
Graphic designer-turned furniture designer Matthew Galvin is, as we discovered last month, a really nice bloke, and one with a thing or two to say about branding. Together with his brother, he is Galvin Brothers, the furniture company with an “honest to goodness ethos” that knows how key graphic touch points are to any successful business. The pair was recently snagged by The Jameson Works to transform a London bar into one best suited for sipping on whiskey, working to the brief “Form and Function.”
The Jameson Works is a community for makers which sees the whiskey brand work with creatives on different projects, each one focusing on the process of how they make what they make. Through The Jameson Works site we’ll be able to follow them as they figure things out and crack on with the making. Starting with a trip out to the Jameson distillery in Midleton, the brothers have been looking at how Jameson makes its whiskey and how this process can inspire their design for the bar and explore new ways of working with wood and other materials.
“Form and function” is a topic relevant to creatives from any discipline, and that’s why we’ve decided to invite along illustrator Malika Favre (the very talented lady behind this year’s BAFTA posters) and Sam Arthur, one of the founders of graphic arts and comics publisher Nobrow to chat with Matthew about creativity, form, function and anything else they fancy. It’ll be a great night, hosted in the bar the brothers will be souping up, so it’s your chance to have a peek at it pre-transformation. So come and join us, have a drink and be inspired.
