Norwegian illustrator Erlend Peder Kvam embodies distinctive silliness

Erlend Peder Kvam is a Norwegian illustrator currently studying at the Oslo National Academy of Arts. As an illustrator, Erlend creates characters that embody silliness, drawn in his distinctive style. Erlend’s website also has its very own style of presenting work, taking you through a never-ending portal of projects.

Influenced by “sports and comics, skiing and Donald, Petter Northug and Yuichi Yokoyama,” Erlend’s work pulls together these influences into bizarre narratives. His full colour artworks, often pieced together in comic formats, focus on primary colours using felt pens to add texture. These projects Erlend refers to as fanzines, which he releases through Narves1Biblioket. Despite being written in Norwegian (and our Norwegian is a little rusty), the illustrator’s ability to represent chucklesome narrative allows his works to be humorously understandable.

After leaving his current job in Oslo, Erlend is now concentrating on illustration, recently creating work for Norwegian band Pom Poko whilst he completes his studies.
