Clément Gicquel’s versatile portfolio with everything from Albert Einstein to odes to cheerleading

Date
11 March 2016

Clément Gicquel’s graphic design work situates pop culture references, psychoanalytic theory and driving puns in and around each other in his versatile portfolio of publication and print design. A student at écal in Lausanne, Switzerland, Clément is managing to balance an experimental approach with refined work that is knowing and playful in its references.

There is an emphasis on saturated photography and bold type, underpinned by traditional processes of binding and academic referencing. We were particularly drawn to his books on the concept of déjà vu, as told by Einsten, Freud and Ginsberg among others; and the early noughties cheerleading classic Bring It On.
