Insightful process shots of Carl Kleiner’s colourful “paperscapes” for Google

Date

Carl Kleiner has been regularly featured on It’s Nice That over the last five years for good reason. He consistently produces good work, and to a high standard. A series of abstract “paperscapes” the Swedish photographer created to be used as wallpapers on Google’s new Android Marshmallow operating system first appear to be digital renders, but process shots reveal them to be meticulously handmade and carefully photographed. With a palette limited to Google’s brand colours of blue, red, yellow and green, lighting and layering create a thoroughly convincing sense of shadow and depth.
